Why is it important to keep your tyres in good condition?
Your safety, the safety of your passengers and other road users is of course the primary reason however there are other advantages such as improved handling and money saving.
The 4 areas to be aware of is; condition, pressure, wheel alignment and tread depth.
Condition |
Look out for bulges, cracks and splits as well as objects that could have become embedded in the rubber such as screws, nails or glass. |
Pressure |
Underinflated or over inflated tyres can effect your cars handling. Ensure your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure for maximum driving pleasure. |
Wheel Alignment |
Uneven tyre wear is usually the result of misaligned wheels. Your tyres will last longer and perform better when correctly balanced and aligned. |
Tread Depth |
The legal minimum tread depth for cars in the UK is 1.6mm (across three quarters of the centre of the tyre around its complete circumference) however it is recommended to replace your tyres once they reach 2mm. |
